A healthy life is determined by how we live and what we eat. Although genes may play a part in the outcome of one’s health in some circumstances, there are many ways to improve your healthy very simply. Living a healthy and balanced lifestyle is not as difficult as it may seem-- once we learn to control our eating habits, the results are evident and that is reason enough to keep eating a balanced diet. Healthy living does not only constitute good diet; one must also do regular exercise to maintain a healthy body. Here are some ways in which you can adopt a healthy lifestyle for you and your family.

* Eat healthy: A healthy diet includes foods rich in all kinds of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates that help the body grow and maintain strength and stability. It is important to include a lot of fruits, leafy vegetables, whole grains and low-fat milk or soy products in your meals to maintain a balanced diet. You must also include protein-rich food sources. For example, try including lean meat, fish, eggs, and nuts in your diet. Try to avoid alcoholic beverages, but if you choose to drink, then do so only in moderation as excessive consumption of alcohol can be bad for your health. Also, avoid smoking at all costs.

* Exercise regularly: Regular exercise keeps your body in good shape and can also keep you free from ailments related to age. A fit person will rarely have any risk of getting diseases related to obesity or to a sedentary lifestyle. Exercising keeps the body fit and strong, and also benefits the immune system, increasing the strength and ability of the body to fight diseases. It has been proven by research that exercising releases endorphins in our body that act as mood enhancers and make us feel good. A great exercise to try is Yoga, which will bring flexibility to your body and improve your breathing.

* Be spiritual: By adding an element of spirituality to your life, you can gain a positive outlook of life and reduce stress, depression and feelings of negativity. A spiritual life balance can help you handle life’s problems in a better way. Having faith in a higher power can help some get through tough times by giving a feeling of hope and optimism. Being part of a spiritual health community can also provide support in distressing times.
